It has been almost two years now that I met my Sweetheart, the One with whom I wish to spend the rest of my life. We met on the internet, in a chat room....for people who were sexually abused as children. We began to chat on our own via ICQ, Private Chat rooms, letters, and Net Meeting. Soon we were calling each other on the phone and talking for hours.

This, talking on the phone for hours, led to some problems because my Love (I didn't know I was in love yet) (although if you read our letters you will see how they are written...it seems that we were in love long before either of us knew...) lived very far away. Almost a whole other world away. I live in the USA, while my Sweetheart lived in a small town in Europe, an entire different continent.

I invited this person, who I had never met in real life, to come and visit me. My Sweetheart and I met for the first time in real life on November 30, 1998. It was then that I fell hopelessly in love. When we (yes, my love is in love with me also) realized that we were in love, this caused a few problems.

1. We are of the same sex.Did I fail to mention that?
2. The United States Gov't will not recognize the relationship.
3. Because of her abusers, she is no longer safe in her home country.
4. It will cost approximately $5,000 to $7,000 for legal costs and the cost of filing all the forms to get her a visa as a student and/or a worker.
5. We are not independantly wealthy.
